Festival season kicks off taking you "Beyond Wonderland"

America’s festival season is going to begin with a bang this year. Beyond Wonderland, a music festival presented by Insomniac Events is kicking off into its 3rd year running located in Southern California.

Insomniac Events have been wide awake since 1993 and host many music events across America and one in particular is Beyond Wonderland. In its own words, “Insomniac has pioneered the world of dance music festivals by creating a fully immersive fan experience, one that envelopes each individual into a fantasy realm full of audiovisual sensory adventures. Beyond Wonderland is meticulously crafted from a blank canvas into a pop-up themed Uptopia with extraordinary landscape of interactive art, pyrotechnics, special effects, sound & lighting and signature themed dancers & performers.”

Being held at the NOS events center in San Bernadino, this location has great landscape with plenty of natural beauty and a lagoon. This allows the event organisers to experiment with providing an indoor and outdoor experience offering 5 musical areas to play in.

I don’t know about you but I have FOMO already. With a line up of very talented International DJ’s and a world beyond most people’s imagination coming to life this thing is going to kick off.

It has to be good if there is a Beyond Wonderland pre-party, party and recovery party. It tells me there is a transition phase taking you from reality, beyond and back again. What a journey.

The trailer says it all.

The Black List: 49 foods to avoid

bunYou may find this interesting to read as researchers at the University of Otago have developed a list of 49 "Needn't" foods, which was published in the New Zealand Medical Journal.

The list is part of a treatment research programme for obesity and includes obvious food items, but includes others that may take you by surprise as chefs are criticising the list by saying it was badly researched.

There is clearly some confusion as number 12 on the list is “desserts” and number 13 is “doughnuts” but aren't doughnuts a class of dessert?! Also, honey is on there, but isn’t it one of nature's gifts to our health and wellbeing?!

Before I start a war it’s important to note the list was written as a guideline for obese people and not for people simply wanting to lose a few pounds. That said it's an interesting list in any case, which is causing plenty of debate.

The never ending "shit people say"

It's a never ending story, there is almost a video for every scenario and it's anyones game to make them. It's shit people say, shit office girls say, shit cyclists say, shit vegans say, shit Australians say on Australia day, shit surfers say, shit that nobody says, and the list goes on..

I captured a few out of the hundreds that had me belly up in stitches and just shows there are some talented individuals in this world.

Note: Language sensor alert on these vids.

Stepping onto ice takes a bit of Dutch courage

It’s snowing in Holland and minus ridiculously freezing which means only one thing.  The canals have all iced over and it was time to test them out.  In my commitment to experience amazing moments around the world I took my first step onto a frozen canal in Holland.

tj-iceIt is the most incredible feeling gingerly placing your feet onto approximately 5 inches of ice knowing that in a few months you could be sailing your boat down the same canal.  Many dutchies wait for this moment where they can pull on their ice skates or schaatsen and grab their sleighs to have hours of fun.  I was intrigued by the many cracks and frozen air bubbles I could see underneath my feet and suddenly I found myself jumping up and down bringing out my mischievous side to see what would happen.   Well the temperature is not rising for a while yet so it’s safe to say the ice won’t be melting.

After all my fun of slipping, sliding and a bit of shuffling, I etched my name in the ice to mark my moment.  A big thumbs up for this little treat.

FBI: Don’t Pay Cash for Your Coffee

How crazy is this?! The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are saying if you are paying cash for a cup of coffee then it’s a “Potential indicator of Terrorist Activity” as they urge coffee shop owners to report cash-paying customers to authorities.

Further using Google Maps to view photos of sporting event stadiums and large cities, and installing software to protect your internet privacy on your mobile phone are also viewed as potential terrorist activities by the FBI. Be aware of getting a "tattoo" as well...

A series of flyers as part of the new "Communities Against Terrorism" (CAT) program have begun being distributed, that urges shop owners and others to report such "suspicious" activity to authorities.

I felt the need to share this with you, especially if you live in America or are travelling through because the last thing you need is to be pulled aside when paying cash for your morning coffee – instead rack it up on your credit card, so they have all your details in any case!!

Here’s a video that helps shed some light on the matter.
